third-person pronoun use for singular person of unspecified gender?
having neither the time to waste nor energy to expend on this, i shall just make use of my near-defunct lj to link interested readers to an ongoing discussion on language and gender in feminist_lit.

the only thing i have to say, which, sadly, is quite un-intellectual, is that this girl's prof. is like such a stupid fool, can. actually, i had thought that the reference to a singular person with unspecified gender as "their" was already considered grammatically accepted; correct me if i'm wrong.

oh well, to each their own, i guess.
