times trying to my soul
my aunties, dad's side, have been taking turns coming down our house each day to prepare lunch/dinner for my gran and us, lousy useless kids. now, some of those advantages of having many children/siblings/aunties are finally manifesting themselves... plus, my aunties are all professional housewives; so, you can imagine what pleasurable delights await us at our table everyday... haha! and my dad's on leave from this week 'til the end of june... and... yati's back!!! (since last evening) whew! i can finally stop reusing all my clothes; no more agony of cleaning out the catpad each morning, washing dishes after meals, vacuuming the house in such sweltering weather...... best of all, we no longer have to watch the luohans die off one by one from lack of oxygen! *geesh*

well, updates on yati's condition: apparently the doctors found what seems like a cyst in her ovary (or something like that). which sounds really bad. and they couldn't manage to invite a gynaecologist to come down to take a look at her, as the gynae can only make it in july. so yati's been discharged and will only have to go back for "further observation" sometime next month. may all be well.

and as all should probably know by now, SIA has been retrenching staff and such... my dad's colleagues from a nearby department/section/whatever have been offered retrenchment... many of which are sorta family friends. we know them, played with their kids, went fishing, went to their houses during chinese new year and christmas. and late last night, my dad got an sms from another colleague saying that seven in his department were given immediate retrenchment today. they're to leave the office by 5.30pm this evening and will be given $30 cabfare. sounds really scary... although chances of my dad actually getting it aren't too high, he says "nobody's indispensible to SIA"... hmmm. freaky.

so there's been pretty much excitement at home recently. and i gotta go shower before i leave for german. might be able to trick my dad into going with me. so... despite the current economic situation and the possible storm ahead, maybe we should cheer up and not sink too deep into depression yet. since yati's still fine and home already, and my dad's still employed, and the remaining luohans are still alive and thriving... :)

*edit* i said we shouldn't be sad, didn't say we ought not be angry. 'cos i'm currently damn pissed with my bloody sister who thinks it's very funny to peep at me typing my journal. one day i'll direct ALL my friends to HER journal. and we'll all have a fine time exploring it.

eh..hahah....hmmm i get lots of peeps from whoever is passing by also. well, except my bro. quite irritating lah, but they're forgivable. so forgive her. heheh.

well..good to hear yati's back..hope your family's troubles will be gone soon. i think big organizations are all like that...a bit like big bully lah...haiya dunno lah. dunno enough about this kinda thing to say anything helpful. just hope your family will be ok. :)

heh, well, i have a very very big extended family and most of the women are professional housewives too...but we have not encountered a situation like yours to know the advantages. ahhhaha. what i do know is: many relatives = many different opinions = many quarrels = many disputes = lots of noise. and many relatives = lots of noise even when there isn't any quarrel, especially when it's CNY.

p.s: let's take a moment's silence to remember the luohans.

yah man, we're all like so damn happy now that yati's back... horrible yingni claims that when yati was gone, i was very tired everyday and went to sleep at 10pm each night. sigh... anyway since my family's bread is at the mercy of that big organisation, and remembering the zhao1 yu4 of drsheep.com, i shall refrain from typing incriminating stuff down. haha.

not many quarrels in my extended family lah, 'tho i can understand the noisiness and all... but maybe got cold wars, then i not sure also. heehee. you very funny leh... always taking moments of silence for my luohans

oh gosh...what happened to drsheep.com? and what is drsheep.com anyway?

heheh...i also dunno why i feel so much pity for your luohans leh...sorry leh...i think maybe because they died in your hands? hahahahaa!

this nus med fac student commented about nus attempting to use "free labour" by asking their med fac kids to take temperatures or something like that during the sars outbreak period. (but in actual fact, nus would pay those who "volunteered" or something) anyway, some streats people surfed by, read it, felt outraged, and reported it in streats... you cna imagine the rest. oh yah, the streats person surfed by 'cos the journaller had once agreed for her blog to be published about in an issue of streats......

my dad's luohans died at his hands lah... i never bother about them! (which might be why...) hahaha

this has nothing to do with the topic
hey real sorry....keep having to ask you stuff by posting comments in your journal. but i'm stoopid lah..can't blame me.

my latest questions:
- does lj support javascript?
- do you know where to get the script for a countdown clock? for counting down to a specific date. i tried looking for it and tweaking the scripts but i kept failing.

Re: this has nothing to do with the topic
eh... actually i've like totally no idea what javascript is leh... i thought last time geocities got supply some counters and stuff like that? anyway i realise you seem to have managed to get your counter up and working, so maybe you got it figured out yourself... one day i'll ask you how to get one for myself... my next birthday!!! haha

Re: this has nothing to do with the topic
no no the counter i have on my entry isn't the one i wanted. i want one that is in real-time mah, don't have to keep refreshing the page. think you need javascript to achieve that but i think lj doesn't support javascript lor...haiya...

hmmm btw, here's a site you should visit!

Re: this has nothing to do with the topic
heehee paiseh i know absolutely nuts about that... thanks for the site, but i have no desire to remember other people's birthdays, just mine. haha! joking lah, just that i have a good memory for numbers, remember? so i don't really need an email programme to remind me. yayz to myself!!!

Re: this has nothing to do with the topic
no it's not the remember-friends'-birthday thingy that's interesting...it's this thing, a banner, that counts down the number of days to your birthday for you!

Re: this has nothing to do with the topic
uh? ook... haha... didn't see/read that. now, that adds to its coolness factor!

Re: this has nothing to do with the topic
hey ok that's what i used to always want on my userinfo page leh... but now everybody seems to have it, not unique liao... :< maybe you have to check back the next day 'cos sometimes such sites are slow at processing them. oh well, since you got the thing to remind me of your birthday, i can erase it from my memory liao. hahaha
